Core System Philosophy
What's the simplest way to explain Frictionless Fitness?
You want the benefits of being fit without fitness becoming another full-time job.
Frictionless Fitness absorbs the heavy lifting of management:
- Automates math & programming: Handles loading calculations, progression, and daily load adjustments.
- Eliminates data friction: Removes food logging and endless metric calculations.
- Simplifies execution: You show up, execute your session, and get back to your life.
What does "Frictionless Fitness" actually mean?
It means systematically eliminating unnecessary effort across every training variable, including:
- Unnecessary calculations & tracking (no manual RPE calculations or macro logging).
- Unnecessary equipment complexity & exercise setups (pin-loaded tools over high-friction setups).
- Unnecessary cognitive overhead & recovery stress (no complex bio-hacking protocols).
The effort that produces physical adaptation stays; the unnecessary friction goes.
Why do you focus on making fitness frictionless instead of promising me a result?
Because knowing what to do and actually doing it are two separate challenges.
Fitness outcomes are non-linear and subject to severe biological variance. Promising a specific body transformation within an arbitrary timeframe is structurally dishonest because the rate of adaptation is inherently undetermined and unpredictable — most training programs focus on selling you the unlikely result at the end of following a fitness protocol instead of an increased efficiency of the entire fitness process. This very easily can create churn.
While precise training volume and adequate recovery make physical adaptation a statistical inevitability over time, your only controllable variable is adherence. By engineering away excess physical and mental fatigue and reducing system friction to zero, we maximize your operational consistency — ensuring you execute long enough to achieve the results you want as a natural byproduct without letting fitness consume your life.
Why does removing unnecessary friction even matter?
Because humans naturally default to the path of release resistance, so attempting to align our behavior as close as possible to nature is the best way to ensure we can actually remain consistent with them. Biology and nature will always win, so instead of wasting our energy battling against it, it is more effective to align with it sooner rather than later.
Even on your phone, a gadget that already saves you an unquantifiable amount of energy because of how frictionless it is, you are still setting up custom shortcuts to make things a bit more so. That isn't just personalizing your phone or being lazy, but quite literally a small example of the premise our entire philosophy is built upon, which is that energy is limited and thus removing unnecessary friction must remain a constant goal. That is efficient resource allocation: offloading tasks wherever possible.
Speaking practically, in fitness, this might mean asking yourself the following question: "Is this frictionless enough that I can sustain it consistently for the next ten years?" If the answer is no, then it doesn't belong in your program long-term. The only type of fitness that matters is the one that can be sustained.
How do I actually use the system?
You simply open Notion, hit suggested intensity, fill in a couple inputs, hit apply, and our system will automatically adjust your workout in Hevy. It's that easy.
Isn't some complexity necessary for good fitness?
Yes, but the key is where that complexity lives.
The system backend can be highly sophisticated so that the front-end user experience stays dead simple. We absorb operational complexity so you don't have to manage it.
Why don't you give me every possible option?
More options don't equal more freedom — they equal more decisions to make. The system constrains options intentionally so your focus stays on high-yield effort.
What if I disagree with one of your choices?
That's completely fine. This system isn't built for people who enjoy micro-managing every programming variable — it's built for those who prefer to delegate programming decisions to a proven framework.
Audience & Requirements
Who is Frictionless Fitness for?
It is designed for busy professionals — such as founders, executives, and software engineers — who:
- Already have lifting experience and understand exercise execution.
- Have access to a commercial gym with standard equipment stacks.
- Want to get strong and build muscle without spending cognitive bandwidth managing programs.
Do I need to already know how to lift?
Yes. This system is not designed to teach basic exercise form or introduce fundamental resistance training from scratch. You should already feel comfortable inside a standard commercial gym, however, the system generally utilizes exercises that aren't difficult for beginnings to grasp, unlike many programs.
Why do you require access to a commercial gym? Shouldn't frictionless mean I can do pushups in my bedroom?
Doing pushups in your room, for example, might be convenient... but it isn't necessarily frictionless training. Something like that introduces massive mechanical friction: terrible progressive overload options (no weight), zero standardized loading vectors (no form normalization), and the psychological drag of trying to train in the exact same room where you sleep and decompress. The truth is if that worked, you probably wouldn't be reading this.
Automation requires a baseline of environmental consistency. A standard commercial gym offers reliable and incredibly high-leverage equipment options that you probably don't have at home, allowing us to automate loading without building endless edge-case substitutions that would dilute our core proposition. Consistency without structure is just organized mediocrity. Shallow at-home or hotel-style workouts yield much less leverage than just taking an extra day to fully recover from the actual gym. The common advice of simply "go for a walk" or introduce basic movement is only effective if you literally don't move. Additionally, optimizing environment is a critical component of reducing friction; training in a place that was made to be trained in makes you more likely to train properly.
What hardware or software do I need before starting?
Please refer to the prerequisite tab, or you can head straight to pricing to start filling out your prerequisite form!
Who is it not for?
This is not designed for:
- Competitive powerlifters or bodybuilders pursuing sport-specific specialization.
- Complete beginners who need hands-on technical coaching for basic movements (this is not a coaching program).
- People who enjoy building and tweaking their own workout programs.
What if I'm already in good shape?
You will still benefit if your primary bottleneck is program management and consistency rather than foundational knowledge. Delegating planning frees up significant time and cognitive energy.
What if I'm extremely advanced?
If squeezing out the absolute final 1% of genetic potential takes priority over time and efficiency, specialized competitive programming is a better fit.
Methodology &
What is Wellness-Driven Autoregulated Progressive Overload (WDAPO)?
WDAPO adjusts your target weights and rep ranges dynamically based on your current physical readiness and performance rather than assuming your recovery capacity is static and that you don't get stronger.
The system adapts training to match the person who walked into the gym today, every day.
Why not just give me a "normal" static workout program?
Static programs assume your recovery capacity stays constant. In reality, your sleep, stress, and energy levels fluctuate daily. Your training system should dynamically adapt to those real-world shifts if they intend to bend with your life as opposed to breaking the second lift gets a bit chaotic.
How does progressive overload work if I don't calculate anything?
Our backend processing handles load progression based on your performance logs and input metrics. You provide minimal inputs; the system calculates the optimal session target load automatically.
Do I have to calculate RPE, RIR, or 1RM percentages?
No. The system is designed specifically to eliminate gym math. We actually recommend disabling manual RPE features so you can stay fully focused on execution.
What happens if I slept terribly, feel sore, or feel amazing?
The system adjusts session target weights relative to your state:
- Poor sleep / soreness: Reduces load targets to preserve productive stimulus without pushing you into recovery debt.
- High readiness: Automatically scales target loads to capture extra adaptive progress.
Why are workouts capped at 45–60 minutes?
Training past 60 minutes yields diminishing hypertrophic returns while spiking . Restricting time focuses work strictly on high-yield sets.
Why don't you use HRV, wearables, or readiness scores?
More hardware does not guarantee better accuracy. Wearables are indirect proxies for performance. Direct, lightweight subjective feedback yields accurate actionable data without hardware friction.
Isn't asking someone how they feel subjective?
Yes, and that's intentional. Perceived energy and local soreness are direct indicators of performance capacity. Simple subjective inputs provide valuable data with near-zero friction.
Why don't you program dedicated cardio?
Two words: low leverage.
Dedicated cardio delivers a notoriously low return on investment for body composition, demanding high mental and physical friction — sustained discomfort, joint impact, time commitments, poorer recovery, and spiked appetite — for minimal physical yield. We prioritize resistance training and high-yield nutrition heuristics because lifting builds active lean mass, elevates resting metabolic rate, and protects functional joint health, all within brief, high-efficiency sessions that actually increase muscular strength, which is what this program is designed for. Unless you are specifically conditioning for an endurance event like a marathon, dedicated cardio is unnecessary for building a lean, athletic physique; we eliminate its operational friction entirely so you can focus exclusively on high-yield strength stimulus.
Why don't you require the stretching you include?
The same two words: low leverage.
Stretching feels incredible while also being incredibly low leverage. By training with weights through a full range of motion, you naturally increase mobility (strength + flexibility) which actually stays. Stretching, even dynamically, is ultimately a tool to loosen your muscles after they have been static for long periods, not necessarily to increase mobility or flexibility, which is an incredibly common misconception. To genuinely increase flexibility purely from stretching, you have to do a load of it, which isn't efficient. In addition, our main priority isn't to increase your flexibility. We have included an efficient, full-body stretching protocol for those who like to loosen their muscles before or after training, but that is a personal preference.
Why you specialize in training, but not really in nutrition or recovery
This is going to sound like a broken record, but the answer remains the same: low leverage.
Our philosophy is centered around minimizing friction and maximizing leverage. Of the three fundamental components of fitness — training, nutrition, and recovery — training is typically the largest source of complexity, decision-making, and behavioral friction, making it the variable where removing friction can create the most leverage. Nutrition and recovery are equally important to the outcome, but much of their practical value can be captured through a small number of simple, high-leverage heuristics. This is not to mention the fact that they are biological necessities already. Training, by contrast, requires substantially more ongoing decisions around exercise selection, volume, intensity, progression, fatigue, and execution. So rather than overcomplicating every component of fitness, we focus our complexity where it actually creates value: training.
Exercise Selection & Equipment Choice
Why do you rely so heavily on machines and pin-loaded equipment?
Machines deliver targeted muscle stimulus while minimizing unnecessary operational friction:
- Fast setup: Pin adjustments take seconds compared to loading weight plates.
- Stability: Reduced stabilization requirements allow maximum mechanical effort targeted to the working muscle.
- Joint safety: Lower technical overhead reduces injury risk under fatigue.
Why don't you program lots of heavy barbell movements?
We select movements based on stimulus-to-fatigue efficiency. While barbells are great tools, they carry high setup time, high technical demands, and heavy fatigue costs. If another tool provides near enough equal hypertrophic stimulus with less friction, we prioritize that option.
Are you saying barbells and free weights are bad?
No. Free weights are incorporated wherever they provide sufficient value relative to setup friction. We treat exercises as interchangeable tools, not rigid rules.
Why don't you offer more exercise variety?
More variety doesn't equal better outcomes. Every exercise carries equipment, setup, and recovery costs. If an exercise doesn't clearly justify its presence, we leave it out.
What if my gym is missing a specific machine or it's occupied?
Don't turn your workout into a substitution puzzle. Move on to another programmed movement or skip lower-priority accessories. Consistent overall stimulus matters far more than order execution or completionism.
Nutrition & Recovery
Do I really not need to track macros or count calories?
Correct. Food tracking creates massive cognitive friction and introduces up to a 20% margin of error on nutrition labels. We use high-yield habits instead:
- Protein Anchoring: Focus on single-ingredient whole food protein sources (aiming for 150g–180g+ daily).
- Simple Plate Heuristics: Pre-built meal structures optimize 85% of physical outcomes without app logging.
How can you personalize nutrition without macro tracking?
Nutrition doesn't require spreadsheet management to produce results, and doesn't require insane personalization on average. Practical nutritional heuristics paired with our integrated Nutrition AI agent help you make smart food choices on the fly. However, we are not offering medical advice, accounting for allergies, or any specifics when it comes to nutrition, so you must use your discretion and refer to your doctor when needed.
Do I need supplements or precise meal timing?
No. No complex supplement stack or rigid meal timing schedule is required. Whole foods, hydration, progressive training, and consistent sleep cover your foundational needs.
What about cold plunges, red light therapy, or bio-hacking tools?
They are not prerequisites. We prioritize high-yield training and recovery habits long before introducing high-friction recovery trends.
How much sleep should I get?
Target 7+ hours of consistent sleep daily. If life gets in the way occasionally, the system adapts your workouts accordingly.
Workflow, Logistics & Real Life
What happens if I miss a workout (or several)?
You don't need to "make up" missed sessions or adjust settings. The backend updates load prescriptions seamlessly when you return. Training should adapt to real life, not demand perfect compliance.
Additionally, to ensure you still hit each muscle group adequately, your plan dynamically adjusts in the background such that even if you were supposed to train for five days this week, but you can only show up for one, you will still hit each muscle group without missing significant stimulus.
However, it is worth keeping in mind that the entire premise behind making fitness frictionless is to minimize the chance of you missing workouts to begin with.
What happens when I'm traveling or at a hotel gym?
If you have access to a commercial gym, follow your regular sessions. If your hotel has limited equipment, enjoy the extra recovery time and resume normal training when back home.
What if I run out of time during a workout?
Complete your core working sets and leave. Consistency across primary exercises matters far more than finishing every single accessory exercise.
What if I plateau?
You don't need to redesign your program manually. The system dynamically adjusts volume and intensity based on logged outputs to break through plateau trends.
What if I don't feel motivated?
Motivation is unreliable and is simply a misunderstanding of the concept of energy. When people say they "lack motivation", they usually mean they lack the biological fuel or perhaps the chemical incentive to initiate action. Thus, by removing unnecessary friction surrounding training, starting a session requires minimal psychological energy — making execution effortless. In other words, we have engineered a system that attempts to make motivation as irrelevant as possible.
Why don't you tell us when we should train?
We don't know your calendar, your life, or your preferences surrounding when you enjoy training the most, so simply pick the times where you can train without letting fitness eat into your life. We generally recommend either training in the morning before the main part of your day starts or as a final activity before your day wraps up.
To make configuring your calendar a bit easier, we give you the option to pick what time you would want to train on the intake form, and we give you the corresponding calendar .ics file to block out that time. Training every day at the same time reduces friction in training over time because your body becomes accustomed to training at that period from a psychological (time association) and physiological (hormal release) standpoint, making it more likely for you to go and maximize adaption, as opposed to constantly training at different times each day.
Software & Tech Stack
Is Frictionless Fitness an app? Why don't you have your own app?
We leverage industry-standard platforms (such as Hevy and Notion) rather than forcing you into a mediocre custom app. We currently focus fully on improving program architecture instead of rebuilding existing logging UI. However, the long-term goal is to bring Frictionless Fitness to a mass audience, and a dedicated app will make that much more... frictionless.
Why do you use Hevy and Notion specifically?
We use best-in-class tools for each job:
- Hevy: Exceptional, fast workout-logging UX without bloat.
- Notion: Clean, structured architecture for your central dashboard.
Do I need to learn how to use Notion?
No. Your dashboard displays key information cleanly. You do not need to become a power user to navigate the system. Check out How It Works to get a glimpse of the simplicity of the dashboard.
How much data do I have to enter manually?
As little as possible. We front-load questions during the initial setup so that daily use requires minimal input.
Why can't I just skip the intake process?
The intake form gathers key baseline parameters required to generate an accurate initial state. Front-loading setup questions ensures daily execution stays frictionless. Our system cannot personalize without gaining information on the person it attempts to personalize for.
Isn't this just AI?
AI is a minor tool used inside the system, but AI is far from the product. It powers our nutrition concierge to make meal suggestions for a variety of situations, particularly in eating out, but it cannot be relied upon for building or calculating programs. General AI fitness tools are getting increasingly popular without necessarily getting increasingly more accurate or useful. The goal isn't to use AI. The goal is to remove friction. AI is just one of the tools that helps us do that.
Pricing & Value proposition
Why is Frictionless Fitness expensive? Isn't $1,000 a lot?
You aren't just buying access to a workout list — you are purchasing an automated system that eliminates cognitive overhead and saves hours of management time. The investment reflects the high value of your time and bandwidth.
Why shouldn't I just use a $20/month fitness app?
Standard apps provide standard exercise templates but leave program management, fatigue tracking, and load calculations on your shoulders. Instead of deleting fitness complexity, they just attempt to put the complexity into one place, which isn't a proper solution for most people. Frictionless Fitness automates that background management entirely and leaves you with the highest-leverage system possible without you having to make many choices.
Isn't this just online coaching? Why not hire a personal trainer?
Trainers add value for beginner form checks and accountability. However, routine load math and progressive overload decisions can be automated more consistently by software — saving you time and energy.
Is there a human coach? Why don't you have weekly check-in calls?
Software manages routine programming decisions automatically. Human support remains available when needed, but we avoid forcing arbitrary weekly check-in calls that consume your schedule.
Will this guarantee results?
No. No legitimate training system can guarantee specific physical outcomes. Physical progress depends on effort, sleep, nutrition, and genetics. What Frictionless Fitness guarantees is the removal of operational barriers between you and consistent execution.
Is this just another fitness gimmick?
No. We rely strictly on core exercise science: resistance training, progressive overload, , and solid nutrition fundamentals. The core innovation lies in how those principles are automated into your daily life.
Why should I trust you?
I have synthesized over 7 years of my personal rigorous real-world exercise execution and self-directed sports scientific research into a dead simple interface. However, you should never just take my or anyone else’s word blindly. Review the principles, inspect the system structure, and see if it makes sense to and aligns with you. We keep our core methodology transparent for this reason.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Directly inside of your Stripe dashboard.
Can I upgrade my monthly subscription to a yearly one?
Yes. You can do so by pressing the 'Upgrade from Monthly' button directly on the 'Pricing' tab. We actively prevent you from "downgrading" from the yearly subscription to the monthly one to prevent you from wasting money, as there are no refunds. It would be better in that case to simply cancel the ongoing subscription and use the program until the end of the billing period.
